You might actually do better getting it into an air show, rather than just an RC get-together? Something with a big guaranteed audience. I've never been to one, but are they usually sponsored? You might want to try talking to some professional promoters that do sporting events, concerts etc. I assume that organizers of fun flies would already be knowledgeable in such things. Can't you see plastering "Red Bull" on one side of your fuse, "Align" on the other or whatnot, and letting them pay for your bird? The race promotor mostly would have to show the sponsor that the event will be really well-promoted and attended.

Major sponsorship isn't that easy to get, however. I've worked on some climbing events, and managed to bring in some freebies from gear makers.

Anybody know what the fixed-wing races pay, and where the money comes from (manufacturers, retailers, energy drink makers etc.)? What kind of sponsorship do top flyers receive? A $3K heli is nothing in a big company's ad budget. The things that'd make it happen are prize money and sponsorship - of races and top racers. Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts, ideas and information they can bring to this thread.īTW I can see people now, building specific helicopters for pylon racing just like the planes It would be cool. Maybe even have different categories for Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. I really think it would be a great thing to watch and get even more people involved in the fun flys. I am very interested in this and think we could have it available for all classes of helicopters, from Minis up to the big dogs, thought I am wondering how many guys with $3000 90 size helicopters would want to participate in a Race where the potential and most definite chance of destruction is bound to happen. Thanks for any help guys and hopefully we can get this ball rolling. Not so much doing just circles but almost like a figure 8 type thing os something to that effect. I would like to see this happen at all of our fun flys locally and I think it would be a lot of fun to watch. So if anybody has any information or anything at all about Heli Pylon racing I would greatly appreciate it. I have never heard of anyone doing this or seen anything on it anywhere. I found the video below so it looks like people are doing this. SO I have looked around for RC Heli Pylon racing on the web. an option, unless you have some serious financial backing. I don't think Pylon Racing would be something for real helis though I am sure there are guys who would do it, but typically flying around $500,000 + machinery in an aerobatic race for fun isn't prob. I have watched the real pylon racing but never seen an RC Pylon race.

I started a thread over in the Airplane Pylon Racing but received no response so I figured I may as well start on in the "correct" location.
